In April 2025, we proudly celebrate a remarkable milestone: Maria Vella’s 25th work anniversary. As Manager of our Gozo Branch and the Underwriting Facilities Team, Maria has been a cornerstone of our organisation, exemplifying dedication, adaptability, and leadership.

Maria embarked on her insurance career over 25 years ago, joining First United Insurance Brokers in 2000. Her commitment and expertise led her through various roles, and following the merger with Island Insurance Brokers, she was promoted to Assistant Manager with responsibility for the Gozo Branch. Today, Maria serves as the Manager of our Gozo Branch and the Underwriting Facilities Team, overseeing operations and supporting Personal Lines and SME clients across a wide range of insurance classes.

Maria finds immense satisfaction in mentoring her team, helping members overcome challenges and realise their potential. She values the opportunity to align team goals with organisational strategy, continuously seeking process improvements and driving results. Her people-centric approach and strategic mindset have been instrumental in our company's success.

Outside of work, Maria enjoys travelling and reading, activities that allow her to unwind and gain new perspectives. She believes in the importance of being present, dedicating her full attention to work responsibilities and family life, respectively. The flexibility of hybrid work arrangements has further supported her in maintaining this balance.

Guided by the mantra, "What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger," Maria exemplifies resilience and growth through adversity. Her adaptability has been particularly impactful during times of organisational change, embracing new technologies and evolving team dynamics with grace and effectiveness.
